About me
About me
My name is Daniela Götz-Siebert. I am a certified dog trainer and communication specialist and I live with my husband and our animal rescue dog Fräulein Smilla in Unterhaching near Munich. Grown-up stepchildren and two little grandgirls enrich my live.
As a child, I ran after every dog and grew up with an Entlebucher mountain dog. When I finally had enough time and space for a dog in my adult life, it was clear that it should be a shelter dog for me.
After all, we “simply” wanted a dog that would live happily with us. It did not need to hunt nor herd or guard anything – – – or is it rather that it mustn’t hunt, herd or guard?!
To live happily together with another species can become a challenge. Even more so when the furry friend comes a long way from a shelter and suddenly has to get used to a new environment. That’s how six-month-old Fräulein Smilla from Bosnia must have felt when she came to us in 2017. She was confronted with strangers, new surroundings and creepy objects such as a roaring vacuum cleaner.
However, guided by a great dog trainer, with lots of patience and an open heart, we got to know Fräulein Smilla and learned to understand what she was showing us, her limits and possibilities. We were rewarded 1000 times and more with her friendly nature!
Gaining trust and building genuine commitment
But the path did not lead through teaching commands and orders but through gaining trust and building genuine bonds. Secure bonding is the basis for relaxed togetherness.
My path to becoming a dog trainer began with Fräulein Smilla. Seeing and feeling what can be possible – even if you start from a difficult place – turned my dog’s infatuation from childhood days into true love and profound enthusiasm for this diverse species.
